Description

The gaping keckiella is found in many plant communities but is most prominent on dry sunny hillsides. In Santa Clara County it is fairly common in the Diablo Range, especially in Henry Coe State Park. It grows as an open, upright shrub to about three feet in height. The flowers appear in clusters of white with purple details, similar in shape to the closely related penstemon. Gaping keckiella appreciates well-draining soil and sun. Very little water is required once it is established. Like all keckiella, it will go largely dormant at the end of the summer. with or without additional water.
