Description

Heartleaf keckiella is a mounding shrub from the coast and coastal mountains of central and southern California into Baja California. It is often encountered growing among and into other plants with its long, vine-like branches. If planted away from other plants it will grow in a rounded or mounding form. Heartleaf keckiella blooms with a generous display of orange to red tubular flowers. In the wild it will go largely dormant during the hot dry summer months. In cultivation it can be kept green with some summer water but will still be semi-dormant in the late summer and fall. Heartleaf keckiella may be pruned back during the fall to improve the plants appearance the following year.
