Description

Pretty face is found in a variety of plant communities throughout the Sierra Nevada and Cascades. In the SF Bay Area it is common on the western slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. After summer dormancy it produces the grass-like leaves typical of native bulbs. A tall umbel of yellow flowers follows in the spring. Pretty face is adaptable to a variety of soil types and sun exposures. Although somewhat tolerant of summer water, it should be allowed to go dormant after flowering.
