Description
Vitis girdiana, desert wild grape, is native to coastal and inland mountains of southern California. Once the roots are well-established it can fill an area of 20' by 20' with large bright green leaves. Indistinct flower clusters give way to dark purple berries in late summer. The desert wild grape is often found in the understory of larger plants near a seasonal water source. It appreciates a mostly sunny planting site in soil of at least medium drainage. Winter deciduous.
