Description
This dudleya, like many liveforevers, has a very narrow distribution in Orange and San Diego Counties. It is found clinging to cliffs and hillsides from the immediate coast into the coastal mountains. Sticky dudleya grows as a rosette of gray-green, upright “fingers.” The leaves are covered with sticky material that explains this dudleya’s common name. The flowers of late spring are white with perhaps a slight flush of pink. Dudleyas prefer a good deal of shade protection when grown in inland areas and a sandy, well-draining substrate. They are an excellent choice for a potted native.
