Description

This little perennial is found in moist places from Los Angeles to British Columbia. Its range includes the Coast Ranges and the central Sierra Nevada in California. Like other members of the saxifrage family, brook foam grows as a low patch of round, lobed leaves with serrated edges. The patch will slowly expand in all directions via rhizome. The flower stems appear in mid-spring with multiple bright white flowers. In dimly lit settings, the gentle flowers seem to float in midair. Plant brook foam in a shady site and provide with regular water. It also makes an excellent potted plant.
