Description
This selection is well-established in the nursery trade but has been hard to find for several years. Eriogonum umbellatum grows in many parts of California and beyond. About 25 varieties occur in California. The polyanthum variety is prominent in the Sierra Nevada and mountainous regions of Northern California. The 'Shasta Sulfur' selection is well loved for its compact habit, rounded gray-green leaves and generous bloom of sulfur yellow flowers. Like all buckwheats, 'Shasta Sulfur' thrives in sunny, fairly well-draining locations. It will go dormant during the winter and come back in spring.
