Description

Coyote mint grows in coastal and mountainous settings from Santa Barbara County north. It appears in spring as a neat mound of fragrant leaves followed by lavender flower clusters which attract a wide range of butterflies and other pollinators. The franciscana subspecies is found in the SF Bay Area in mild coastal settings. The ‘Russian River’ selection is popular for its adaptability and vigorous growth. Grow coyote mint in full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. Although typically summer dormant, ‘Russian River’ coyote mint can be kept green with occasional summer water.
