Description
This little perennial is common in many plant communities throughout California. It grows as an open, upright fountain of one or more stocks of triangular leaves with serrated margins. These are topped with an open panicle of small red flowers which are interesting and worth a closer look. Bee plant is quite adaptable to various soil types. It prefers partial shade. It seems to go largely dormant by the end of the summer in a natural setting. A small grouping of several bee plants will improve their appearance in the garden.
