Description
This rare jewelflower is native to the foothills of the central Sierra Nevada. It is a delicate plant exhibiting the small, ornate flowers typical of jewelflowers. The flowers of this population of purple. Milkwort jewelflower accumulates nickel, a characteristic which is protective but also provides benefit for herbivores that require a high nickel diet. This little plant has proven to be adaptable in cultivation. Adequate drainage and regular water will be fine. Consider growing it in a pot, though, so it will not be lost among other plants and its subtle qualities may be appreciated.
